Project
Basta Restaurant
We designed this space around the texture of an old Gulf neighbourhood, but treated “old” as a structural decision rather than a decorating theme — raw plaster, reclaimed timber ceilings, and mashrabiya-pattern breeze blocks carry real weight and wear in a way a simple distressed finish never could.
Hand-stencilled portraits, weathered doors, hanging vines, and mismatched vintage photographs accumulate the way a real neighbourhood does — unevenly, over time — while the newer outdoor pergola trades that grit for warm timber lattice and market-stall lighting.
Nothing here was aged to look old; it was built the way the original buildings would have been.
Basta 23 brings traditional Middle Eastern cuisine — Bahraini breakfast, homemade Arabic dishes, fresh bread from a live oven — to restaurants across Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai. Its promise is five-star quality at an honest price, in a setting built to feel like home.
