Project
Dhofar Municipality
Across the lounge, reception, and children’s area, we layered warm plaster, veined marble, and pale oak into three connected moods within one civic building — public service made to feel like an invitation rather than a formality.
In the breakout space, curved red velvet armchairs and drum tables in golden oak sit beneath sculptural wood-slat pendants, framed by tall palms and a planted courtyard wall that carries the greenery through to an open garden.
The reception welcomes visitors with a ribbed, wave-form oak bench and desk set against stone-inlaid marble, while the children’s area turns light-hearted with an olive velvet sofa, terracotta reading nooks carved into the wall, and a geometric line-lit ceiling above herringbone parquet.
Dhofar Municipality has governed Salalah and the wider Dhofar Governorate since 1971, delivering the public infrastructure and services that shape daily life across the region. A civic body this embedded in everyday life needed public spaces that felt like they belonged to the people using them, not just the institution running them.
