Nakheel Oman Development Company
We took the palm as the office’s one recurring idea and kept it deliberately spare. Frond silhouettes drift across the frosted glass of the meeting rooms, and tall black inlays taper up the pale oak wall behind reception, echoing the angled strokes of the Nakheel Oman mark.
A curved inlay of pale timber flooring cuts through the charcoal carpet to mark out the arrival, and the ceiling above follows the same soft line. Below it, the reception desk seems to float on a band of light, while black leather seating gives waiting visitors something solid to settle into.
Along the corridor, slender black steel frames hold staggered display shelves, turning a passing wall into a place to show the company’s work. In the boardroom, a timber ceiling set within a frame of light sits over a long walnut-toned table, and wide internal windows keep the meeting connected to the open-plan floor beyond.
Nakheel Oman was established by the Diwan of Royal Court and Oman National Investments Development Company (Tanmia) as the investment arm of the Million Date Palm Project, overseeing how the harvest is processed, packaged, marketed, and exported. A company that takes one of Oman’s oldest crops to international markets needed an office rooted in that crop, but polished enough for the markets.
